What Are Essential Oils?

Consistently good health is largely a result of good nutrition, exercise and a strong physical and emotional immune system. Essential oils which can stimulate the immune system, are liquids distilled from plants, shrubs, flowers, trees, bushes and seeds. An ancient process, oil distillation is a delicate and precise art that has been almost forgotten. Science is just now re-discovering the incredible healing power of essential oils, which are the lifeblood of the plant kingdom, and beginning to acknowledge their value.

My favorite most versatile is Lavender. The real lavender, Lavendula Augustofolia, heals burns. I have some on my finger combined with Aloe right now. Super fast healing. Plus it is relaxing of course. What is your favorite?

GOAT’S MILK

The benefits have been used for centuries for medicinal and cosmetic purposes. The low ph of Goat’s milk protein is similar to human skin making it a gentle cleanser. It contains essential amino acids and vitamins A and B and minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium and phosphorus. Goat’s milk also contains alpha-hydroxy acids, which are known for their restorative and rejuvenating qualities. With homemade soap’s natural emollient, glycerin, goat milk’s soap is often recommended by dermatologists for patients who have skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema and acne yet so gentle that it’s best for babies. Remember goat's milk gobbles up natural oxide colors.

Sounds like an old commercial but peppermint and spearmint together smells just like wriggley's gum. I love my Kelsei mold to swirl. Uh huh...you are singing the gingle, aren't ya?

Five people so far for an afternoon of creating this Sunday at the Chenango Forks ranch. Lots of fresh supplies. I will join in to make a batch of my french green or morrocon red clay soap.

Still under construction but that won't stop us.

Broome County Ethnic Festival - Saturday

Come celebrate Broome County's diversity with delicious foods, fun and of course, handcrafted soaps and lotions. I'll have quite a few new hand blown glass pendants. They are classy ware for all ages.

BCC Advanced Class

One opening in this Saturday's class at Broome Community College due to a cancellation. Great time of year to stock up for Holiday gift giving as well as get ready fir cold weather dry skin. Handmade soap is so moisturizing. Really!

New Soaps

Nothing like creating a new seasonal kind of soap! OK world, you can wait! Just finished batches of Pumpkin Brulee, Cranberry Fig/mango and Bayberry. Their scents are floating around the house. Wonder why the cats don't hang out too close to the soap room? LOL

Beginner soapmaking class at Norwich BOCES is full with 14 people (guys included). Can't wait! What an awesome culinary room to teach in! No wonder we all keep coming back for more.
